If like us, your boyfriend spends his time in the same old t-shirt and jeans, you might want to attempt a little style makeover.

Essentially, this requires us to do a little research into what is big in men’s fashion this year. So, notepads at the ready if you want to transform your man from plain and samey to irresistible style icon.

Trend 1. Country Guys – Checked shirts, gilets, tweed and corduroy are all fashion staples this season. Looking and acting country is all part of this year’s catwalk shows and wellies and pipes have never been more sought after.
Trend 2. Preppy Guy – In keeping with the country theme, the preppy style is also a big look this year. Preppy can be anything from a buttoned up shirt and black-rimmed glasses to simply pairing a pair of chinos with deck shoes or loafers with some smart jeans. The trick is not to overdo this look, too much preppy can look a little try hard so try to avoid bow ties teamed with three or four other preppy items.

Trend 3 – Black & red. Separately these colours are key this spring and summer, the catwalks were awash with all black and all red outfits. Go for black if you’re feeling moody and red for your more playful days.
Trend 4 – Blazers – Again, this can fall alongside the preppy and country trends. If you wear any jacket this summer, make it a cotton, unlined blazer or sports jacket (or a double breasted jacket for more formal occasions).
Trend 5 – Hawaiian shirts – yes you heard us, Hawaiian shirts are finally in fashion so go bright and bold for maximum impact. If you don’t believe us, take a look at Ralph Lauren; D&G and Marc Jacobs look books for the proof.
